Isildur and his brother Anarion – together with their father Elendil, High King of Gondor and Arnor – joined the Last Alliance of Elves (under Gil-galad) and Men against Sauron. Sauron, the Dark Lord, had made the One Ring, a Ring of Power, to enable him to take control of the whole of Middle-earth.
